On October 9th, the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance and our wonderful community partners are cultivating a day-long gathering of students, parents, PreK-12 teachers and administrators, lawyers, healthcare professionals, and advocates to share skills and clarify shared goals for the work of the safe schools movement in the months and years ahead.

Zephyr, a current Alliance Youth Committee (YC) member reflects on the opportunities and growth they experienced as a youth activist and leader. They speak about how the YC is uniquely youth-led and youth-centered, and how other LGBTQ youth and allies can continue to contribute to and build on this rich tradition of inclusion, respect and safety.
